Artist. Activist. Mother.
Leila Neverland’s art is as much the ambiance she creates in live performance, as it is her compositions themselves.
"Potentially the most soulful performance ever." -Artistic Director, Fireside Festival, Kelowna 2019
She tours her original music throughout Western Canada's soft-seat theatre and festival circuit with her musical partner Taylor van Zyl, and offers audiences the space to practice empowerment, inclusivity, love, environmental awareness, and togetherness.
"Singer and composer Leila Neverland weaves narrative lyrics within powerful vocals to pull audiences in and keep them engaged throughout the performance." -Nathan Kunz, Revelstoke Review, 2018
"I've seen a lot of live shows come through here, and you were the best I've seen in a long time." -Director, The Dream Cafe, Penticton, 2019
"You took me right where I wanted to be." -Joseph Sanchez, Member of Indigenous Group of Seven, Santa Fe 2018
She is also a member of the Sounds Like Things Ensemble (SLTE), a collaborative improvisational and interdisciplinary performance group that intersects live music and soundscapes, shadow play, theatre, dance, and interactive media projection.
[Leila Neverland] experiments with mind numbing rhythms and a vocal range capable of grabbing even the most mundane of auditory palette." -Jennifer Smith, Kelowna Capital News, 2012
Leila is currently working on an anthology and full-length solo album entitled "Halfway to Beethoven," her duet's first single entitled "River," and SLTE's first two-track EP release called "Continuum."
